It's been an absolute joy when I got an email from PAGE – Das Magazin der Kreativbranche, Germany’s leading magazine for designers, art buyers, and co in the creative industries, to ask me if they can use the double T's I designed for Type Thursday Bucharest as their cover image for the 08.21 edition.

I am amazed that this project managed to make its way from a small and lovely event in Bucharest, to Romanian Design Week and then to Type Directors Club New York, and Germany.

Few words on the initial poster and the concept: it was designed for Type Thursday Bucharest and it shows two playful and intricate uppercase T’s, emphasizing the theme of the event: a meetup showcasing typography-related projects and engaging the audience in a constructive conversation. Both letters are inspired by Engrosser’s Script, one of the most influential calligraphy styles, that date back to the late 1800s. The design process was mostly based on doodling with four pencils taped together in a rectangular shape, and extrapolating the classical calligraphic feel into a 3D image that was finally rendered in Adobe Illustrator, thus creating a bridge between the "old ways" and the new ones.

This poster also received a Certificate of Typographic Excellence from the Type Directors Club in NY City and was featured in The World’s Best Typography: The 41st Annual of the TDC. Type Directors Club is one of the oldest (founded in 1946) and biggest graphic design associations in the world.
